The Freedom To ROAM is not just an adventure—it’s a fight for belonging. Across the Fremont section of the Oregon Trail, six U.S. veterans will embark on a grueling bikepacking journey to challenge racism, bigotry, and exclusion in the outdoors. For too long, marginalized communities have felt unwelcome in public lands. This expedition is a stand for justice, a call to dismantle systemic barriers, and a movement to redefine who has the right to roam freely.
With each pedal stroke, these veterans carry forward the legacy of the Triple Nickles, the first Black smokejumpers trained in Pendleton, Oregon. Their presence on the land honors those who came before them while forging a future where outdoor spaces belong to everyone. Follow the journey. Be part of the movement.
